Showcare Provides Online Photo ID Software for ESCA’s National Exhibition Worker Badge Programme

Showcare MarkhamShowcare Event Management Inc. announced today that they have developed the online photo identification card software used for ESCA’s new national badge program ESCA WIS. This national database was recently launched by the Exhibition Services & Contractors Association (ESCA) in order to streamline the identification of conference and exhibition workers at various convention facilities nationally. The Georgia World Congress Center was the first venue to adopt the program with more coming on-board in the near future. The exhibition Worker Identification System (WIS) online database provides a unique ability to manage worker data and capture photos from anywhere in the world. Upon entering worker data, the system allows administrative users to capture a photo of the employee using an attached webcam in real-time or upload an approved image from an offline digital camera. In addition, the employer can choose to order and pay for the identification cards all in one simple and secure process. Once completed a bar-coded color photo ID card will be issued to the employer so that it can be distributed to the individual worker for identification and tracking onsite.

“Showcare is very excited to be partnered with ESCA in this program” said Craig Giles, Vice President, Operations at Showcare Event Management Inc. “With ESCA’s vision and understanding of the need for a unified exhibition industry identification system along with our technology and badge fulfillment expertise, the benefits and opportunities for conference venues could be endless.”

Is Canada Sliding on The World Stage of Game Development?

develop 100UKDevelop Magazine, a UK-based magazine for the game development industry has released its annual Top 100 worldwide studio list. While there are more Canadian studios listed this year than in previous years, there is a large shift in their placings.

EA Canada, who held the number one position on the Develop 100 list for 2005, 2006 and 2007, was toppled from that position in 2008 by Nintendo, and this year both were moved down a notch by Blizzard Entertainment. Rockstar North took third place, effectively knocking Canada out of the top three. EA Canada, however, still hangs on to the top Canadian spot at number 4 while Ubisoft Montreal finishes at sixth, down three from 2008. Fourth place is the lowest position EA Canada has ever held in the Top 100, while Ubisoft Montreal has moved up and down the list while always remaining in the Top 10; the studio placed 10th in 2007, 6th in 2006 and 5th in 2005.
