Machinarium on Android

Hothead GamesCzech Republic-based Amanita Design and Vancouver developer Hothead Games have partnered to announce the launch of Machinarium for Android, including Google Play, Amazon’s Kindle Fire and the NOOK App™ store. Android tablet users can now discover the award-winning, steam punk world of Machinarium, navigating a clever little robot called Josef from the scrapheap into the city to save his robot girlfriend.

Players must use logic to solve puzzles, quests, brain-teasers, and mini-games to rid the city of the wicked Black Cap Brotherhood robots. Gorgeous hand-drawn graphics and animations bring the robot’s story to life, using unique comic bubbles and symbols to convey the plot.

Machinarium is available now on Google Play, and will be released this week on Barnes & Noble’s critically acclaimed NOOK Tablet™ and NOOK Color™, with all versions priced $3.99. The game will also be available through the Amazon Appstore for Android later this month. The game is compatible with Android tablet devices and a selection of large-screen Android phones.

On a complete aside, I got the chance to play Hothead’s upcoming title Zombie Ace last Thursday in what was a world-wide first-look press exclusive. Zombie Ace is a side-scrolling shooter, in which your character is flying an old war plane. The object of the game is to shoot down enemies, gather ammunition and collect coins. You also must land in cities and towns to refuel. The game’s graphics look great, and everything was very smooth. The only problem I found is that the text was a bit too small for me to read, even with my glasses on, however I imagine it would be easier to read on a tablet versus the iPhone I playing the game on. That said, Zombie Ace does look like a fun game to play, and sources say it will possibly be available later this month.
