Big Top Ballet Launches for iOS, Android, Mac and Chrome

vectorbloom [1]Games for mobile are much like music, they’re consumable ‘re-usables’. As with music, no one listens to just one song over and over, they have a library of albums from their favorite artists and genres that they consume and re-consume. But unlike a song or album, a game can keep evolving with new levels and new game play strongly enhanced by music.

This is exactly the approach VectorBloom [1] has decided to take by partnering with DJ ill-esha ( pronounced ill-’ee’sha) to compose the electronic dubstep music for their alternative indie game, Big Top Ballet [2]™.   It’s an amibitious project that has debuted with the first of a 12 part series of artful mini games dreamed up by Montréal Artist, Elizabeth Boylan working with Vancouver developer, John Borchert and Vancouver electronic music composer, DJ ill-esha.

Big Top Ballet is an unfolding narrative exploring the dreamscape of fantasy, nightmares and the subconscious revealed through a series of 12 artful mini games. With a stylized backdrop of cirque, dance and electronic music that transport players into another dimension, the creative focus is a series of alternative games with unique game play, killer music and  a focus on art.

GAME 1 ‘Kaleidoscope’

Build a kaleidoscope of spinning ‘paper’ ballerinas by attaching floating costumes, touch the white tabs before the costume falls. Each ballerina spawned spins faster and faster, but if you drop too many costumes it’s a game over! How many ballerinas can you dress? (In version 1.2 ) When the monarch butterfly arrives, your final task is to activate these paper ballerinas epic transformation by flying the monarch through hoops. If you play to win, you’ll be rewarded by the beauty of the paper ballerinas magical transformation into butterflies as the music lifts you up and takes you away.

Use the accelerometer or arrow keys to spin round by tilting your Android or iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device or fly the Monarch Butterfly through hoops.

Available now for iOS [3],  Android [4], Mac [5] and Chrome [6] with the Facebook  Game scheduled for September 2012. In the meantime, fans are invited to follow news on the game’s Facebook page [7].
