Tribal Nova Launches New Math App

tribal novaTribal Nova, the developers behind the award winning PBS KIDS PLAY! and CBC WONDERWORLD online learning programs have announced the launch of a new app in the “i Learn With” suite of early childhood education apps designed exclusively for iPad. The new i Learn With Boing: Savannah Adventures! App teaches young children many core math subjects such as number recognition, counting, ordering in ones and tens, adding and subtracting, with three highly engaging games, including one that encourages parent and child to play together.

i Learn With is a curriculum-oriented, game-based school readiness program for children ages 3-6, developed and designed with experts in early childhood development to deliver a fun and truly educational experience.

i Learn With apps track children’s success rates and adjusts the level of difficulty in order to adapt to their developmental needs across a full breadth of subjects. Parents can monitor their child’s progress in the app or through email alerts and compare it with children that are the same age. The program also recommends a personalized learning path for each child and integrates highly engaging rewards for educational achievements. Based on National Standards and designed with the help of teachers and developmental experts, this suite of education kids’ apps proves that games can be both fun and truly educational.

“As a parent, we all want to give our children a head start and a solid foundation for school. Our suite of apps now covers science, math, literacy, foreign languages and we are committed to developing a complete cross curricular program on iPad to help children get ready for school with unique tools to measure progress and motivate children to learn,” explains Pierre Le Lann, co-CEO of Tribal Nova.

i Learn With Boing: Savannah Adventures! contains three fun games with scaffolding levels of difficulty.

  • Game 1 – Children help the prairie dog chef prepare his soup by identifying quantities of items between 1 and 20 and associating them with the written numbers.
  • Game 2 – Children help the cute little frog cross the pond by choosing which lily pad to jump to next. Children need to identify numbers in the correct order, increasing or decreasing, and recognize certain number patterns.
  • Game 3 – Children have to catch the right number of ostriches and get them in the truck before it leaves. In doing so, they learn to add or subtract up to 20, taking into account groups of 2 or 3. This game includes a two-player mode for parent-child or peer-to-peer fun gameplay.

“As a teacher, I have been using the first i Learn With apps in the classroom and have received an outstanding response from the children,” adds Andrea Gardner, instructional technology teacher. “It was a pleasure to participate in the development of this new app, making sure it meets national standards in education and that each level is developmentally appropriate for children 3 to 6 years old.”
