Kerberos Productions teams up with Power Up Audio for Sword of the Stars: The Pit

kerberos productionsKerberos Productions is pleased to announce its partnership with Power Up Audio to provide sound effects for their latest title, “Sword of the Stars: The Pit”. As a demonstration of things to come, Power Up has re-cut the soundtrack of the first gameplay trailer for The Pit with all new sound effects to show-case the new sound package.

Power Up Audio is a fresh face on the game scene in Vancouver, led by principal designers Kevin Regamey and Jeff Tangsoc. Both designers are veterans of SomaTone Interactive’s Canadian division. While working for SomaTone, Regamey and Tangsoc contributed audio to hundreds of professional game projects before striking out on their own.

“We stumbled upon SotS: The Pit on IndieGoGo on Day One of its campaign,” explains Regamey. “By a stroke of luck we bumped into Chris Stewart, the company’s COO, at the DigiBC/GREE Meet-Up shortly thereafter.”

“Easily one of the more fortuitous meetings I’ve ever had,” adds Kerberos COO Chris Stewart. “It was great to meet a team with such a huge love of video game sound design and history. Turns out that Indiegogo was a great choice for us in more ways than one.”

“We’re very excited to be a part of The Pit, both during this campaign period and throughout development,” says Regamey.”We’re life-long gamers at Power Up. We strive for the modern ‘standard of awesome’ in all our work, but we’ve got a soft spot for the retro vibe. We jumped at the chance to be involved with a game like The Pit.”

Power Up’s audio direction will mirror Kerberos’ healthy mix of old-school graphics and new-school gameplay mechanics – a modern sound, with a respectful nod to gaming roots.

Sword of the Stars: The Pit is a fun, fast, light-hearted action RPG, made in the tradition of Rogue and other old school dungeon-diving games. Set in the popular Sword of the Stars universe, it delivers a rich backdrop and modern gameplay. Although the art style of the game is light, the role-playing mechanics under the hood will offer a good crunch for players who appreciate depth, as well as gruesome death-by-adorable-monsters.
