Toys”R”Us Canada Searching For New Chief Play Officer

toys r us [1]What if your job included being the first to try out the hottest new toys and video games? Or to provide the inside scoop to parents and gift givers on the hottest toy trends on national TV? Well, Toys”R”Us [1] Canada has a ‘dream job’ opening, as it searches for an enthusiastic child who is passionate about toys to become its next Chief Play Officer [2] (CPO). The next CPO can expect a year full of fun, play and discovery which will include: toy training sessions with toy manufacturers, regular home deliveries of the newest, hottest toys to test, writing social media blogs, making television appearances across the country, walking in the Toronto Santa Claus Parade and acting as the spokesperson for Toys”R”Us in Canada.

“For our newest CPO we’re looking for a dynamic child who is enthusiastic about toys and has a vivid imagination. Through this nationwide search [2], we’re excited to see what our country’s talented youth have to offer,” said Liz MacDonald, vice-president of marketing and store planning, Toys”R”Us Canada. “We created the CPO role because as Canada’s Greatest Toy Store it is important to us to provide honest opinions, education and advice on what games and toys children will love, and who better to share those insights than a child?”

The current Chief Play Officer, Julianne Bisnaire, is retiring at the ripe old age of 14 and as she passes the torch to the next lucky kid, Bisnaire reflects on her past year and a half with the toy leader. “Attending toy training sessions and getting to play with tons of toys and games on a regular basis was awesome,” said Bisnaire. “I loved having the coolest job in Canada and it was great to be able to share my thoughts on the coolest new toys. My last duty is to help choose the new CPO, so I’m really excited to see all the submissions and to give someone else the chance to experience what I did.”

Canadian kids, with the help and consent of their parents, can apply online [3] and submitting a short video explaining why they should be Toys”R”Us, Canada’s next Chief Play Officer. In the video, kids are encouraged to talk about something they are passionate about such as their favourite toy, gadget or game. Toys”R”Us, Canada is calling all young individuals who are comfortable in front of a camera, confident, well spoken, energetic and most importantly, love to have fun and play with toys. All eligible videos will be evaluated on their originality, creativity and enthusiasm. To be considered, subject to the CPO search rules and regulations, entries must be submitted before 11:59 p.m. EST on July 6, 2013.

Up to 10 finalists will be brought to Toronto for an in?person interview and audition with a panel of judges. The winner will be awarded a one?year contract as Toys”R”Us, Canada’s Chief Play Officer.
