It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… a Winged Pikmin! In celebration of Pikmin 3’s North American launch on August 4, Nintendo of Canada is putting a new type of Pikmin, the Winged Pikmin, front-and-centre at Red Bull Flugtag Ottawa-Gatineau. If you haven’t heard of it, Red Bull Flugtag challenges teams to design, build and pilot homemade flying machines… off the end of a 22-foot high flight deck. Our Pikmin may have wings, but will it fly? We’ll find out on July 27! Festivities start at 10:30 a.m. in Ottawa-Gatineau at the Museum of Canadian Civilization, and the event is free. Electronic Arts Inc. has announced that EA Sports™ has secured licensing agreements with 19 of the top football clubs from Brazil, ensuring each officially licensed club will feature the authentic club crest, kits and players in-game. FIFA 14 will feature over 30 leagues, more than 600 clubs, and 16,000 players. Ubisoft^® has announced the “Road to Paris” Tournament Series for its popular new collectible card game, Might & Magic: Duel of Champions, now available for PC and iPad from Ubisoft Quebec. The “Road to Paris” Tournament Series will take place over the course of the summer through online qualifiers and live tournament events, culminating in the World Championship at Paris Games Week from October 30^th – November 3^rd. Players can register for live tournaments on-site at the events, or participate in the online qualifiers. Ubisoft anticipates thousands of participants, but only eight competitors from the qualifying events will be invited to compete for the title of Might & Magic: Duel of Champions Grand Champion. GREE has announced that Knights & Dragons, a mobile free-to-play iOS game developed in collaboration with IUGO Mobile Entertainment Inc. and published by GREE, has surpassed $1M in monthly revenue. The team aims to double that revenue number over the next couple of months with long term goals reaching as high as $5M in monthly revenue by the end of the year. The staff at WarioWare, Inc., are working with their fearless leader, Wario, to create his new Wii U game, Game & Wario – a game that can only be described as incredible, amazing, stupendous … and a bunch of other adjectives! To help Wario achieve his dream of funding this awesome game by his target launch date of June 23, he has created his own special crowdsourcing site called Crowdfarter.com. Here, visitors “donate coins” to the game by “liking” the site and daily updates from Wario via Facebook or by tweeting them to the masses on Twitter.
