Independent Montreal game studio Spearhead Games and game publisher 505 Games have announced a partnership to digitally release co-op puzzler Tiny Brains on the PlayStation®4, timed to the platform’s North American launch this November 15. In addition to Sony’s next generation console, the four-person action puzzle game will release simultaneously on PlayStation® Network and Windows PC via digital download. In this latest Nintendo 3DS adventure, we travel along with the famous sibling plumbers on a vacation to Pi’illo Island, which of course is not the simple pleasure trip it appears to be. There are new characters and villains (along with the long-familiar ones) to chat up and combat, and as you can expect from a Mario title, there’s a healthy helping of puzzles to solve. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is a combination of colourful 3D levels and classic 2D side-scrolling action, and in this aspect the game really does shine. There was obviously much time spent in development perfecting this new world into a place that it seems only Nintendo can produce while making full use of the 3DS’ abilities. Today at its Digital Days event, Ubisoft shared more details about several of its upcoming titles. First on the information list is Child of Light, a digital title to be released in 2014 on current- and next-generation platforms as well as PC. The game is being created by a small team of seasoned developers based at Ubisoft Montreal. Child of Light has been developed on Ubisoft’s UbiArt Framework, a powerful engine that lets programmers and artists to bring their art to life by allowing original concept art to be inserted unedited into the game world. Players all over the world fell in love with many memorable, adventure-filled moments in the well-received Donkey Kong Country Returns game for Wii: jumping around the game’s lush and colourful side-scrolling levels; clinging to the side of a swinging platform; riding on a speeding mine cart; and leaping from barrel to barrel between foreground and background. Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, launching May 24 for the Nintendo 3DS system, includes all these great moments, but also offers players a host of new features that were not available in the original Wii game and a beautiful new 3D makeover that makes the graphics look more impressive than ever before. In anticipation of the July 31 release of Columbia Pictures’ and Sony Pictures Animation’s 3D hybrid live-action/animated family comedy The Smurfs™ 2, Ubisoft® has announced that the company will develop and publish a video game based on the film. Developed by Ubisoft and WayForward, the game will be released as an action-adventure platformer game for the Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3, Wii™ and Wii U™, as well as an interactive storytelling book and collection of mini-games on Nintendo DS™. The game, which has been nominated for an IGF “Excellence in Visual Art” award will be released on April 9th in the Americas, and will support Cross-Buy for $14.99. Now on sale in Canada is the newest installment of the Paper Mario franchise, which flattens the mustached hero into a two dimensional, paper-thin character and nothing could be more fun. Paper Mario: Sticker Star for the portable Nintendo 3DS introduces a new way for players to solve puzzles and execute attacks using stickers, which are found throughout the game.
