VISO, BroadbandTV’s consumer channel, has put a call out to its network of 5,000 video creators from around the world to tell the story of Mission Possible, a local charity that helps residents in one of Canada’s poorest postal codes find jobs. Nissan Canada announced the winner of the Nissan Innovation Challenge in a 30-minute television show on CityTV Sunday evening. Kelly Ruest, a mother of two from Cornwall, Ontario, pitched her winning advertising idea on Facebook and focused on the themes of innovation and technology, demonstrated through a family road trip. Kelly’s concept has been developed into a 30-second national television spot which premiered yesterday during the Nissan Innovation Challenge episode on CityTV, and will air regularly on conventional and specialty channels across Canada. The RIC Centre presents the finale event for this season’s Growing Your Business, Breakfast with the Experts Series.The competition is modelled as a hybrid of American Idol and Dragon’s Den where 4 companies are invited to present their business pitch to a panel for feedback. Over the course of the last several weeks, students from 120 high schools (78 from Ontario, 32 from Quebec, 2 from Alberta, 1 from Nova Scotia, 5 from the United States and 2 from Mexico) took part in the FIRST Robotics Competition – the largest high school robotics competition in Canada.
