During a Nintendo Direct presentation earlier today, Nintendo announced that the new Nintendo 3DS XL system will launch in Canada on February 13 at a suggested retail price of $229.99. New Nintendo 3DS XL offers a number of new enhancements designed to offer the smoothest and most engrossing portable gaming possible. New Nintendo 3DS XL features a wider range of controls with the addition of a C Stick and ZL/ZR buttons, super-stable 3D via face-tracking technology and built-in NFC functionality that allows for communication with amiibo figures. Ten Canadian feature films will be screened at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, a record for Canada at Sundance. This outstanding selection will also include five shorts and three video installations.  With 10 feature films out of a programmed 123 features, Canada will present the third-largest line-up at Sundance—accounting for 8% of the overall selection—after the United States and the United Kingdom. Thunderbird Films, producers of Mr. Young, Some Assembly Required and Endgame – one of our favourite Vancouver-based TV series, has acquired reality producer Great Pacific Media, which is also based in Vancouver. Great Pacific TV is the studio behind Highway Thru Hell and the recently revealed Airshow, as well as Daily Planet and Untold Stories of the ER. While terms of the acquisition deal were not disclosed, the Vancouver-based Great Pacific, launched by president Blair Reekie and CEO Mark Miller in 2010, opens the doors to an international market in the TV, reality and lifestyle genres for Thunderbird.
