Fifteen Interactive Digital Media Projects To Receive CMF Funding

Canada Media FundThe Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today that 15 interactive digital media projects received a total of $10 million in funds as part of the second round of production support from the Experimental Stream. The Experimental Stream encourages the development of innovative, interactive digital media content and software applications.

Of the projects receiving support, three are from British Columbia, one is from Manitoba, seven are from Ontario, one is from Prince Edward Island, two are from Quebec, and one is from Saskatchewan. Earlier this year, the CMF provided $14 million in funds to 25 projects who applied for production support. Combined with this round of funding, the CMF, in its third year, has already provided more than $69 million in funding to 127 projects for production support.

Production support provides funding for the creation of a final, market-ready version of an eligible project and preliminary marketing and commercialization activities. Please see this PDF page for a full description of the new projects that received production support (58KB):

  • Rachis – Rachis Wine Assessment Inc. (SK) – Rich Interactive Media Application – $ 997,035

  • Susanna Moodie: Roughing It – Xenophile Media Inc (ON) – eBook Application – $ 540,000
  • Time Tablet Tour of Fort York – Fort York Tour 1 Inc. (ON) – Rich Interactive Media Physical Support $ 500,000
  • Yanked! – Lazar Entertainment Inc. (ON) – Rich Interactive Media Website – $ 995,000

In the next few weeks, the CMF will announce projects receiving funds for development support and marketing support from the Experimental Stream.
