CWC Announces New Digital Media and Technology Council Empowering Women in the Digital Age

cwcThe Board of Directors of Canadian Women in Communications has announced the formation of the Digital Media and Technology Council,  an advisory leadership committee of senior women in technology, digital media and communications, to strengthen and advance CWC’s role as the premier national association advancing the careers of women in the digital age. The Council will be co-chaired by Shann McGrail, National Director, Education, Microsoft Canada and Lynda Partner, CEO, Partners Inc. Its mandate, in line with the mission and objectives of CWC, is to:

  • help women in traditional media become more digital
  • promote talent sharing and support for women in ICT and media organizations to advance in their careers
  • help companies recruit women with digital and leadership skills
  • encourage women to start businesses that use digital technology

“CWC recognizes how digital transformation and convergence are changing the career paths and skill requirements of women in technology, media and telecommunications,” said Patricia Douey, CWC Board Chair. “The Council allows us to strengthen our commitment to the promotion of talented women across these sectors through education and cross-pollination of their diverse talents. This will help all women in knowledge-based sectors and strengthen Canada’s workforce for the digital age”.

“The Digital Media and Technology Council is a fundamental strategy for CWC to provide support and programs to embrace all women creating and leveraging technology in Canada”, says Joanne Stanley, Special Advisor, Strategy and Technology Sectors.  “The senior advisors on the DMT Council are committed to increasing the contribution of women to Canada’s innovation and digital agenda”.

Canadian Women in Communications is Canada’s most comprehensive organization serving career women in the technology, media, content development and telecommunications sectors.  CWC joined forces with Wired Woman in early 2012 and currently has 2900 members in nine chapters across Canada.
