Invoke Announces Launch Of POS REP Social Network For The Military Veteran Community

invoke media [1]Invoke Media [1], the agency and incubation company that built HootSuite [2], announced today the launch of POS REP [3], a new mobile, location-enabled social network designed exclusively for the military veteran community. The purpose of the app is to reconnect veterans who served together, joining vets to a previously unknown network located within their geographic vicinity.  pos-reps-app-dashboard [4]

“POS REP is a true innovation for the veteran reintegration experience,” said CEO Anthony Allman, a US Army veteran who previously worked as the Director of Strategy at ViWo Inc, Google’s first Value Added Reseller specializing in the deployment of Google Apps. Allman is a co-founder of POS REP along with fellow veterans Jake Wood and William McNulty. The app, available as a free download in the Apple Store, allows veterans to find other app users in their area using their mobile phone’s built-in GPS. Users can “pop a flare” to indicate their location and coordinate in-person or online meetups with fellow vets, host a chat with other users, stay in contact with members of their squad after leaving the service, and earn badges and show support for veteran service organizations.

POS REP was inspired by Sergeant Clay Hunt, who served in the Marine Corps with Wood and deployed in the same sniper section to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Clay returned to civilian life deeply scarred with the mental and emotional wounds of war, and as a result, served as a leading national advocate for veterans with PTSD.

After moving back to Houston in late 2010, Clay felt isolated, misunderstood and depressed. Tragically, Clay took his own life in March 2011. At the memorial service, Wood discovered that within 15 miles of Clay’s apartment had lived three Marines with whom they had both served – Clay had in fact not been alone. POS REP was developed to prevent the next Clay Hunt from happening again.

“It was a privilege for Invoke to take on the project of working with the POS REP team to develop and launch this app,” said Invoke Labs Managing Director Keith Ippel. “We are proud to support the cause of connecting veterans to a larger community.”

In addition to developing HootSuite, the social media management platform that is now its own company of over 200 employees, Invoke has developed Food.ee, a corporate food ordering service, and partnered to launch Sprout at Work, an enterprise software that integrates wellness into the workplace.

Invoke is a 50-person company headquartered in Vancouver with offices in Los Angeles and New York, co-founded by Tedman, Dario Meli and current HootSuite CEO Ryan Holmes
