Wavefront and Innovate Calgary Join Forces

innovate calgarywavefrontWavefront, Canada’s Centre of Excellence for Wireless Commercialization and Research, has announced a new partnership with Innovate Calgary that will directly support the growth and commercialization of wireless technology companies in Southern Alberta. As part of this partnership, Wavefront will offer valuable programs and services to Innovate Calgary member companies including:

  • Access to sophisticated mobile application testing resources, including more than 1,000 devices in Wavefront’s national network of mobile device libraries, usability studies and Perfecto Public Cloud automated testing solutions.
  • Targeted business partnering opportunities with international carriers and MNEs, as well as access to outbound market entry programs into global markets like Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America.
  • Advisory and mentorship programs including the Wavefront Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Accelerator program, with training, tools and resources from Deutsche Telekom, Rogers and Sierra Wireless.

In addition, Wavefront will offer Innovate Calgary’s professional services and consulting programs to its members, with funding support available through the Wavefront Accelerated Program with NRC-IRAP. Wavefront and Innovate Calgary will also partner on joint industry events and training programs covering the latest wireless technologies and business opportunities.

Both Innovate Calgary and Wavefront are generating economic impacts for Canada. In 2012, Innovate Calgary clients generated over $296 million in sales creating over 100 new jobs and employing 750 individuals. A recent assessment of Wavefront’s economic impact reveals the creation of nearly 575 jobs across Canada, accelerated time to market by four to six months for wireless companies, and $37 million generated in GDP between 2009-2012.
