Digital advertising platform and solutions provider Videology has released its 1^st quarter findings on the video advertising market in Canada based on an analysis of 51 million impressions delivered via its platform from January to March 2013. Among the findings, Videology found that Canada continues to outpace other markets in terms of cross-device video advertising. The share of digital video ad impressions placed on mobile and connected TV in the 1^st quarter amounted to 37%, with the remainder placed online. Comparatively, 26% of impressions were placed on mobile and connected TV the previous quarter—an 11% increase quarter-over-quarter. SiriusXM Canada, the country’s leading audio entertainment company, today announced the launch of its fourth annual national comedy contest, the search for SiriusXM’s Next Top Comic. This year, up-and-coming comics from across the country will vie for an opportunity to audition live in one of seven Canadian cities. The Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Foundation of BC received a record number of entries for this year’s Leo Awards – 852 nominations, which reflects a 10% increase over the 2012 entries. Amazon’s LOVEFiLM, along with MGM Television (MGM), has today announced the premiere of the highly-rated and critically acclaimed epic television series “Vikings,” exclusively on LOVEFiLM Instant in the UK and Germany, making the streaming service the first and only place to watch the hit series in these countries. “Vikings” will premiere on LOVEFiLM Instant in the UK on May 24th 2013 and Germany on 15th June 2013 and will be available exclusively on the streaming service in both countries. MGM Television is serving as the international distributor in all markets outside of the U.S., Ireland and Canada. triOS College has announced the launch of its new weekend video game camps, aimed at getting students excited and informed about what it takes to design and develop a video game.  These two-days camps run out of the triOS College Toronto and Kitchener campuses on select weekends from May 25 to August 24, 2013, with potentially more dates to be added. Video game enthusiasts will be able to choose from two different camps: “Learning to make Games with Gamemaker” for ages 11-14 and “Game Development with Unity 3D” for ages 15-17.  Interested participants can get details and register online. The Canada Media Fund (CMF) congratulates all winners at the NUMIX Awards, which were presented yesterday evening at a gala held at Club Soda in Montréal. The NUMIX Awards recognize excellence in Québec-based multimedia productions and showcase the quality and creative talent of Québec’s digital media companies. The CMF, with its objective of promoting innovation in the digital media industry by providing financial support for productions with original content, was the event’s principal partner for the third consecutive year.
