Teradici Expands PCoIP Remote Workstation Portfolio

teradici [1]PCoIP® protocol developer Teradici [1] announced yesterday that it has expanded its PCoIP Remote Workstation [2] portfolio to bring greater mobility to power users on-the-go, enabling higher levels of productivity and collaboration in today’s fast-paced virtual work place. Available today, the company’s new PCoIP Software Clients make it possible for users to remotely access applications running on high-end tower, rack or blade workstations equipped with the Teradici PCoIP Remote Workstation card – at home or on-the-go – from a desktop or laptop PC or Mac. Software Clients enable remote workstation mobility and are complementary to popular Teradici PCoIP Zero Clients [3], which deliver full-performance workstation access in the enterprise.

Teradici’s innovative PCoIP [4] remote display technology allows the user’s workstation operating system, applications, and data to reside on company premises, either in the data center or under-the-desk. Now, workstation users can also easily tap into compute power, applications and data remotely from their own device over their company VPN on Windows or Mac operating systems.Teradici PCoIP Remote Workstation Cards [5]

Feedback from beta program participants has been resoundingly positive for the newest addition to the Teradici PCoIP Remote Workstation portfolio. End users in diverse industries (automotive, education, government, media and entertainment, telecommunications, etc.), workstation OEMs, and channel partners report that extending remote access to users at home or on the road is as simple as connecting remotely via VPN from a PC or Mac, logging into the software client and getting started.

“Remote visualization, via backroom server or under-the-desk workstation, is poised to disrupt the way businesses share and access rich visual content,” says Alex Herrera, senior analyst at Jon Peddie Research and Workstation Report Series author. “The benefits of centralizing data, particularly with the explosion in size of the datasets we’re seeing in the workstation space, are now too compelling to ignore. Teradici’s PCoIP Remote Workstation solutions provide those looking to reap those benefits a quality visual experience, both over WAN and LAN.”

For Toyota Motorsport, GmbH (TMG), the transition to a modern, flexible, Windows-based remote workstation infrastructure with Teradici has streamlined operational efficiencies and dramatically improved the computing experience for engineers, IT and facilities staff members alike. A one-stop-shop for specialized engineering services, TMG’s talented team serves high-profile clients around the world, including members of the Toyota Motor Corp. family. “With Teradici, our workstations are more secure and more flexible,” says Per Norqvist, IT service and delivery manager. “We can provide increased level of IT support, better efficiency and productivity – and a better environment in the office.” See Toyota Motorsport, GmbH case study PDF here [6].

“For many years, Teradici has been delivering uncompromised remote computing experiences to users of the most demanding, graphically-intensive applications on high performance workstations from the world’s leading OEMs,” adds Olivier Favre, director of product management at Teradici. “Today, we’re adding further remote computing flexibility and accessibility to workstation users – anytime, anywhere. This news is symbolic of Teradici’s commitment to enhancing remote workstation use cases, and the first in a series of announcements on our product roadmap.”

Andy Rhodes, executive director, Dell Precision workstations [7], says, “Like Teradici, Dell is committed to bringing greater flexibility to professionals in engineering, digital content creation and other graphics-intensive occupations to accelerate workflows and accommodate a variety of work styles. With the addition of Software Clients to Teradici’s Remote Workstation portfolio, Dell Precision rack and high-end tower workstation customers will have one more option for securely tapping into computing resources, applications and project files on-the-go.”

Over the past 5+ years, Teradici has carved out a leadership position with its flagship PCoIP remote workstation solutions. For example, Teradici counts among its top customers the “who’s who” in media and entertainment, bringing the benefits of remote computing to talented creative teams working behind the scenes on today’s award-winning special visual effects and motion graphics for film, episodic TV, commercials, interactive web and gaming. “True experience” remote computing with Teradici instantly mobilizes creative teams to optimize creativity and innovation among artists, editors, producers and animators, all within a secure IT environment.

The Teradici PCoIP Remote Workstation Solution enables workstations under-the-desk or in the data center to transmit high resolution, full frame rate 3D graphics and HD media to remote users around the globe. The PCoIP remote display protocol resolves the challenges of managing, maintaining and securing enterprise workstations, using a chipset that compresses and encodes the entire workstation experience and transmits it over a standard IP network to stateless zero client devices for performance or Teradici PCoIP Software client for flexibility. PCoIP solutions offer a high fidelity workstation experience to the end-user while increasing collaboration, productivity and security.
