BC Digital Media Developer Meets With Japanese Digital Companies

mini-orbyWhile BC Premier Clark was meeting government officials and discussing LNG opportunities in Japan, British Columbia’s business contingent was also hard at work in Tokyo, building relationships and exploring opportunities in the private sector. As the world’s third-largest economy and a high-tech powerhouse, Japan is a leading export destination for British Columbia and a desirable partner for business and investment. One BC digital media developer was part of the business contingent.

One member of the British Columbia delegation was Roy Husada, Creative Director at Vancouver digital media agency Rival Schools and developer of an award-winning interactive children’s storybook app, Bramble Berry Tales, based on B.C. First Nations fables. The app has been selected by Apple iTunes as an “Editor’s Choice app” in over 22 countries. British Columbia’s Trade and Investment team in Japan arranged a number of meetings for Husada with small to medium digital/gaming companies to give him an opportunity to meet face-to-face with potential Japanese investors and partners.

Husada has good reason to believe his participation in the mission will yield positive results for his business: Japanese investors have already shown confidence in British Columbia’s talent and innovation in digital media, with high profile Japanese companies such as Namco Bandai, DeNA and Gree all making recent investments in the province.
