Vancouver’s Flying Helmet Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its cooperative role-playing adventure title Eon Altar, a project that blends the experience of classic tabletop gaming and modern video games into a Tabletop Video Game. Five friends fight through dungeons to uncover ancient secrets and compete for glory and wealth. Using personal handsets to control your character’s actions, with a tablet to adventure through dungeons as a group, players undertake a cinematic journey unlike anything ever before in a tabletop setting. Celebrated French composer  Olivier Deriviere (Remember Me,  Alone In The Dark) has created a unique musical score for  Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag – Freedom Cry, the latest chapter in Ubisoft‘s historical action-adventure open world video game series. Set in the Caribbean at the dawn of the 18th Century, Freedom Cry is a stand-alone story about Adéwalé, a former slave-turned-assassin who attempts to save his enslaved people in Haiti. To immerse players in the game, Deriviere’s sweeping emotional score features performances by a world-class symphony orchestra as well as live drums, a cappella soloists and choir performed in the tradition of Afro-Haitian ancestral music. The  Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag – Freedom Cry Original Soundtrack will be available for digital download on iTunes and other digital music sites to precede the release of the game. Sixteen fighters. One cover. Who joins Jones? Electronic Arts Inc. and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC^®) have announced that Jon ‘Bones’ Jones, the youngest champion in UFC history, will be one of two fighters to appear on the EA Sports UFC cover. The second fighter will be selected by fans in the EA Sports UFC Cover Vote presented by MetroPCS. The 16 fighters featured in the cover vote include current UFC champions and top contenders, such as Georges St-Pierre, Ronda Rousey, Anthony Pettis, Chris Weidman, Johny Hendricks, Jose Aldo, Alexander Gustafsson, Miesha Tate, and more. The giant Xbox One I told you about earlier this week powered up last evening (I was at work beating the quarterly Fuel Tax report into submission and couldn’t make the event) and onlookers at the corner of Nelson and Seymour in Vancouver were witness to a seasonal treat – a live action appearance of new character Nick Ramos from Capcom Vancouver‘s upcoming Dead Rising 3 title and a horde of zombies. The defending crowd was armed with an array of weapons to beat back the horde and they did just that, and they did it with gusto! In the spirit of Halloween, Dead Rising 3 also released a new trailer to celebrate. The trailer encapsulates the reckless carnage of the hotly anticipated open-world zombie action game. Prior to Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition’s release on November 15th, Beamdog, Atari and Overhaul Games have announced the release of concept art for new playable character Hexxat, as well as 12 new screenshots and three new music samples from the game, which you can find on the game’s official ‘media‘ page. The original Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn, launched in September 2000, quickly becoming the most celebrated Dungeons & Dragons fantasy roleplaying video game of its time. On November 15th, 2013, gamers new and old can experience the epic continuation and conclusion of the Bhaalspawn Saga, with full HD resolution support and area art remastered from the original renders. Nintendo is giving Wii U owners the chance to get fit for free. Starting November 1, Wii U owners who own a Wii Balance Board accessory and have access to a broadband Internet connection will be able to download a free trial version of Wii Fit U from the Nintendo eShop. The trial software is not an abbreviated version of the game – it’s the full Wii Fit U experience. The trial will be downloadable from the Nintendo eShop between November 1st 2013 and January 31st 2014, and will work for 31 days from when it is first played. Read the rest of this entry »
