Nintendo is offering Wii U owners a chance to download a full version of Wii Fit U for free. Starting November 1, Wii U owners can download a complete version of the game and get a head start on their New Year’s fitness goals by trying out all the activities found in the game for a full month – at no cost. All users need is a Wii Balance Board and a Wii U system with a broadband Internet connection. Consumers can keep their trial copies of Wii Fit U at no additional cost by simply purchasing and syncing a Fit Meter to the game. Kerberos Productions, which launched its first Kickstarter campaign last month for the sci-fi wargame Sword of the Stars: Ground Pounders, continues to offer the general public, as well as Kickstarter supporters, the opportunity to get hands-on with the game by releasing an Android device Alpha demo to Google Play for free.  As well, the PC Alpha demo, which was released through GamersHell.com in August, is being updated with air and engineering units. Inspired by classic wargames like Panzer General, Ground Pounders is a hex-based, turn-based science fiction strategy game, designed to give gamers a new twist on traditional turn-based warfare. Hinterland Games is thrilled to announce that talented actor Mark Meer has joined Hinterland and will be voicing The Long Dark‘s protagonist, bush pilot William Mackenzie. Fans of the Mass Effect series will no doubt recognize Mark as the iconic Commander Shepard in that blockbuster game franchise, and we’re honoured that he’ll be bringing the lead character in The Long Dark to life. The development team at BC’s Hinterland Games is sending out a huge THANK YOU for the interest in their studio and its first game. They are over the moon that you’re as excited about The Long Dark as they are and recognize that they wouldn’t be here without you. The team has launched their official KickStarter campaign, and it’s off to a great start as the staff at KickStarter have chosen it as a Staff Pick. Paper Machete Games, an independent development studio located in Campbell River has just released a Windows demo for its upcoming title Attack Of The Gelatinous Blob, a real time strategy game mixed with some tower assault elements. In the game you play the mad scientist, Dr. Blob, who controls a horde of blobs set on taking over the world. The blobs have exciting abilities where they can change their attacks and skills based on what they eat. Combine them to create horrific slimy monstrosities, gelatinous cubes, and slime puddles. In this latest Nintendo 3DS adventure, we travel along with the famous sibling plumbers on a vacation to Pi’illo Island, which of course is not the simple pleasure trip it appears to be. There are new characters and villains (along with the long-familiar ones) to chat up and combat, and as you can expect from a Mario title, there’s a healthy helping of puzzles to solve. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is a combination of colourful 3D levels and classic 2D side-scrolling action, and in this aspect the game really does shine. There was obviously much time spent in development perfecting this new world into a place that it seems only Nintendo can produce while making full use of the 3DS’ abilities.
