Nintendo of Canada along with select EB Games stores across Canada have teamed up to offer fans the unique opportunity to preview Pikmin 3 for the Wii U two weeks prior to release. Please see below for a complete list of locations that will be participating in the preview event, which runs this Saturday and Sunday, July 20th and 21st, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. You can also pre-order the downloadable version of Pikmin 3 during the event and gain access to the game one day prior to the official August 4th release date. Announced earlier this week (yes, Friday is my catch-up on the news day) was the Canadian International Television Festival (CITF), which will open on November 16, 2013 with Bell Media, the Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) as key supporters. The not-for-profit CITF will be the first television showcase festival in Canada and will provide a familiar platform for the public, journalists, broadcasting students, advertisers, and the industry to discover and enjoy new and returning English and French-language Canadian programs. Producers of the Canadian Videogame Awards (CVAs) announced yesterday afternoon that the fifth edition will take place in April 2014 in Toronto. This national award show celebrates excellence in Canadian-made video games and has been held in Vancouver for the past four years. At a launch reception held today at the Drake Hotel, industry leaders, government officials, sponsors and media gathered to celebrate the announcement that the show would move east for the first time in 2014. The Casual Games Association (CGA) has announced that it will feature the first North American Indie Prize Showcase at its Casual Connect Conference in San Francisco. The event, launched earlier this year at Casual Connect Europe and Asia events, is expected to feature new games from more than 100 indie development teams. The Indie Prize Showcase is a free program created to reward the industry’s top independent development talent with resources, relationships and recognition. For the first North American event, more than 100 games will be featured on-site at Casual Connect by the development teams who created them.
