TRTech and the Canadian Digital Media Network (CDMN) announced late yesterday that they will co-host the 6th annual Canada 3.0 conference, which will be held for the first time in Western Canada at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre on May 26th-28th, 2014. Canada 3.0 has been an annual event since 2009. Started by CDMN, it is now Canada’s largest annual digital media conference. TRTech, a hub on the CDMN, and CDMN are long-time partners working to assist early stage, midsize and large digital media and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and mobile companies to commercialize their products and services, for national and international markets. Privacy and Access 20/20: A New Vision for Information Rights celebrates 20 years of freedom of information and privacy laws in the province of British Columbia and Canada. The conference will be looking back on our journey over the past two decades, but also looking forward to future reform. The agenda offers thought-provoking content from privacy, access and technology experts from academia, government, civil society and industry, both within Canada and internationally. A unique feature of this conference will be the participation of all of Canada’s federal and provincial Information and Privacy Commissioners, who will be attending their annual meeting in Vancouver in the days prior to the conference. The 3rd annual Canadian Cinema Editors Awards by Deluxe is thrilled to announce film expert Richard Crouse as this year’s host. The awards will be held at the Capitol Event Theatre in Toronto on June 6th 2013. The C.C.E. Awards is the largest event of its kind in Canada, focusing on the significance of post-production in cinema. The C.C.E., after only 5 years in existence, now boasts 250 members across Canada and growing. Feminists in Games, funded by a Canadian SSHRC Grant is an endeavor created with the purpose of assembling an international research association of digital media researchers from a full range of salient disciplines to begin building ‘connective tissue’ between and among them, so as to better understand the origins and consequences of this gendered digital divide, and intervene in its reproduction. In the group’s second annual workshop, which will be held at the Centre For Digital Media this May 31st and June 1st, attendees will have two full days of panels, presentations and discussions on issues which impact women in technology and development.
