Twelve Ontario companies have received funding from the Investment Accelerator Fund (IAF), bringing the program’s total investment in Ontario’s emerging enterprises to $26.6 million in 57 companies since its inception. As Ontario’s most active seed-stage investor, the IAF helps startups develop their businesses and position them for further investment by angels and venture capitalists. Just as schools are adapting to a digital future, Canada Post is undergoing a similar experience by evolving its products and services to fit the changing digital needs of Canadians. This is why it is launching the new epost platform, dubbed Canada’s digital mailbox, in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. The Royal Canadian Mint is pleased to announce the winners in the MintChip™ Developer Challenge, which began on April 4 when developers from across North America were invited to test the technology as part of the continuing research and development of MintChip™ and to determine its applicability to the current marketplace. The results of the Developer Challenge will form part of the Mint’s ongoing evaluation of possible next steps in the development of the MintChip™ technology. As those of you who follow us on Twitter will be well aware, DigiBC hosted a town hall meeting Tuesday night for the BC game development community. It was encouraging to see such an excellent turnout for the event, and kudos to Whitney and Carly for putting the event together. The evening featured a panel of local creative devs with Lance Davis taking on the role of moderator. Opening remarks for the evening were presented by Rick Griffiths, Audit and Assurance Group partner with PwC. I will touch on only a few of the highlights from the evening, simply because the conversation moved quite quickly and because we did tape the event. The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today that comScore has been selected to collaborate on implementing an automated digital media (“DM”) measurement tool.  ComScore will also provide operational and technical support to the CMF and its digital media applicants for the collection of performance data for digital media projects funded through the CMF’s programs.  Read the rest of this entry »

The Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) is reaching out to Canadians through its 35 Million Directors project to help create a new video to inspire more travellers from around the world to choose Canada for their vacation.
