Toronto-based online training software vendor SkyPrep released its eCommerce platform at the beginning of 2013. Since its release, the company has implemented many new features to its training platform. Registration is now open for the fourteenth annual PMC Science Fair Fun Run, which will take place on Sunday, May 26th at the Athlete’s Village Plaza (the former Olympic Village). The Fun Run is the largest timed 5K race in BC and is one of the technology industry’s largest fundraising events. All registered Fun Run participants are eligible for prizes and receive free admission to the TELUS World of Science on the day of the race. Families can meet student science fair participants, view science fair projects, pick up free giveaways from run sponsors and participate in the day’s activities, all while learning how science education can be fun. The Visual Effects Society Vancouver Section along with the Vancouver Economic Commission and the HR Screen Council Board are pleased to announce the date for the 2nd Annual VES Vancouver Career Fair at the Vancouver Convention Centre West Building. The Career Fair doors will be open from 11:00am through 4:00pm on Saturday, April 20th, with students welcome to attend after 2:00pm. Last year the VES Vancouver Job Fair hosted 1200 attendees and 20 exhibitors. This year the space has been expanded to accommodate over 30 exhibitors. Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) has announced that it will launch its 2013 Scholarship Program on Tuesday, April 2nd. Entering its second season, the AMI Scholarship Program reaffirms the organization’s continuing mission to improve, increase and promote media accessibility for all Canadians. The program awards two $5,000 scholarships per year to qualifying individuals, one of which is reserved for a student with a permanent disability. Coming up on April 1st 2013, Nimbus School of Recording Arts is launching the first annual Nimbus Mix Contest in partnership with Universal Music Canada, hosted by Indaba Music. High school students, aged 13-19 have the chance to create their own mix (or remix) of tracks from Hedley, Sam Roberts, and Karl Wolf for a chance to win a $25,000 scholarship to attend Nimbus. Starting April 1, 2013, students will be able to download the raw tracks and create their own unique mixes (or remixes). The world’s largest touring exhibition on the evolution of video games makes its first Canadian appearance at the Ontario Science Centre. With more than 150 playable games, Game On 2.0 charts key game developments from 1962 to the present day; from the very first commercial coin-operated pinball game to the latest in virtual reality, multi-player experiences and 3D video games.
