A new “Global Study on Mobility Risks” reveals that corporate mobile devices and the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) phenomenon are rapidly circumventing enterprise security and policies in Canada. Seventy-one percent of more than 400 respondents in Canada agree that the use of mobile devices in the workplace is important to achieving business objectives. But 72 percent also believe that these devices put their organizations at risk—and only half the organizations surveyed have the necessary security controls to address the risk. The number of technology mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in Canada nearly doubled from 15 deals in the fourth quarter of 2010 to 27 in 2011, according to Ernst & Young‘s Global technology M&A update and 2011 review. Megatrends including smart mobility, cloud computing, social networking, “big data” analytics and cross-sector and cross-industry blur drove this increase in technology M&A around the world. Modernizing Lottery and Gaming in Ontario: Advice to Government (PDF) is the result of a strategic business review that took place over the course of 2011. Cloud technology is expected to create millions of new jobs around the world and will be an important force in inspiring the business innovation needed to restore global economic health, according to a new IDC study released today.
