EA Sports Teams Up With Susan G. Komen For The Cure

EA SportsElectronic Arts Inc. has begun a special promotional partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month through specially marked EA Sports™ games during the month of October. Starting in early October, select Best Buy store locations will have available for sale EA Sports video game titles featuring the Komen Running Ribbon logo to acknowledge the $100,000 dollar donation from EA Sports.Komen for the Cure

“This year marks the third year of commitment on behalf of EA Sports in continuing to create awareness in the fight against breast cancer,” said Christopher Erb, EA Sports Senior Director of Partnership Marketing. “EA is honored to work with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to spread awareness and to give EA Sports consumers an opportunity to participate in finding the NHL 11 Komen For The Cure Covercures.”

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which is now the world’s largest breast cancer organization and the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer with more than $1.5 billion invested to date.

“Over the past 30 years, significant advancements have been made in the fight against breast cancer,” said Katrina McGhee, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing FIFA 11 Komen For The Cure CoverOfficer for Komen for the Cure. “Without partners like EA Sports, Komen wouldn’t have been able to pay for half a million breast screenings for women last year. Together, we are literally saving lives.”

Best Buy, the exclusive retail partner for the EA Sports and Komen for the Cure promotion, will have the limited edition video game packages in select stores throughout the month of October. EA Sports titles marked with the Komen Running Ribbon logo will include FIFA Soccer 11, , NCAA Football 11, NHL 11 for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system and will be featured on Madden NFL 11 and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® 11 across the PlayStation 3 system, Xbox 360 and Wii™ gaming consoles.

A check of both Canadian and American Best Buy web sites did not return any results for the specially marked covers, so it would appear that the “select” locations designation does not apply to online, and will also most likely be only at Best Buy stores located in the USA.

Aftercad Announces Launch of GameString to Service Cloud Game Developer Market

afterCADVancouver’s Aftercad is pleased to announce the launch of its new Cloud Gaming technology portal GameString.com to service the rapidly growing market to develop and deploy cloud based games on the web.

“Cloud Gaming may be new but already there are a number of players in the market and game developers looking for the new edge to engage people.” said Chris Boothroyd, CEO of Aftercad. “We started with the Immersion Project earlier in the year and really hit a nerve in game developers who wanted to try out cloud gaming and eventually deploy it themselves. We decided that this market is only going to get bigger as social game developers start to ramp up production values across the board and need to deliver much more into Flash and HTML5 environments.”GameString

Aftercad has recently expanded its 3D web publishing efforts to include GameString.com for game developers and Renderjam v2 for CAD and GIS 3D broadcasting and remote access. As cloud computing continues its assimilation of other verticals, developers are looking to cash in on the new cloud gaming methods being touted by services like Onlive, Otoy, Gaikai and others. Aftercad GameString delivers the technology to maximize this new cloud delivery method while giving developers the the ability to leverage the full power of Flash or HTML5 on the client’s computer or mobile device.

“Other methods out there rely on just the video stream and a plugin to bring the remote game play to the user in time to react and send those commands back again. This method is called ‘Soft PC-Over-IP’, will always be lag sensitive and function as a closed loop. the GameString technology however does a much better job by opening up the loop, allowing game developers to utilize the power at both ends of the wire thus greatly reducing the dependence on bandwidth alone.” said Boothroyd. “We are constantly being amazed by what we are seeing in these new game demos people are putting together. For example using Flash/Flex to create the entire UI and the Unity 3D engine rendering superb 3D on the server – the synthesis of those two things working in concert is stunning and will clearly be a tool in the developer’s arsenal next year. It is yet more validation of the superiority of our patent pending, Dual Rendering approach and we are looking for even more game developers to join us in the cloud.”

CounterPath Awarded New US Patent

counterpathVancouver’s CounterPath Corporation has announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted its patent for presence detection in mobile and fixed broadband networks. By providing applications with a graceful way to automatically select the best network connection based on the user’s location, the patented mechanism enables services such as least-cost routing and minimizes dropped calls by streamlining the process of transferring calls from the cellular macro network to Wi-Fi or a femtocell.

CounterPath’s new patent – No. 7,809,381, “Presence Detection for Cellular and Internet Protocol Telephony” – builds on the company’s portfolio of patents and exclusive license protections for CounterPath’s fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) technologies. These include:

– On Sept. 28, CounterPath was granted a U.S. patent – No. 7,804,821 – for “Circuit Switched Cellular Network to Internet Calling with Internet Antennas,” which enables a single identity to be assigned to
multiple devices and specifies how to route communication services to those devices.

– In 2009, CounterPath was granted U.S. Patent No. 7,502,615 – “Handoff for Cellular and Internet Protocol Telephony” – which enables users to roam between mobile and IP networks seamlessly, allowing active calls to be handed off faster.

The new patent announced today leverages these two patents to enable the delivery of the voice and data services based on the end user’s location. For example, when a person moves from a mobile network into an IP-based network – such as one in a home or office – the combination of these three patented mechanisms allows the home or office phone to automatically assume the user’s mobile identity, or mobile phone ID. When the user leaves the home or office environment, the phone is seamlessly disconnected from the mobile identity and moved back to the mobile network. Read the rest of this entry »

iPerceptions Expands Its 4Q Free Suite

iPerceptionsiPerceptions Inc., a leading provider of web-focused Voice of Customer (VoC) analytics, today announced the expansion of its successful 4Q Free product offering to a family of four products. For the first time, companies can choose from a cost-effective, yet sophisticated suite of online analytics tools that analyze individual customer experiences based on the combination of VoC and Google Analytics (GA) data. The 4Q suite includes Facebook and Twitter links, automatic alerts when significant changes occur within the data and global industry comparisons from over 6000 websites across 35 industry verticals.

The 4Q product suite is a simple-to-deploy Software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution and includes the original 4Q Free version, which was developed in collaboration with Avinash Kaushik, a noted web analytics author and blogger. The suite has been expanded to include: 4Q Basic, 4Q Plus and 4Q Premium.

“Limited time, resources and budgets have made it difficult for many companies to take advantage of Voice of Customer analytics,” said Claude Guay, president and CEO of iPerceptions. “Because the price is right, many companies have adopted free web analytics tools such as Google Analytics to answer the what and 4Q Free to answer the why. But the 4Q suite offers companies of all sizes a low-cost, simple-to-deploy solution that combines the what and the why for more accurate and complete customer analysis.”

While the overall premise around asking the four most important survey questions remains the same as 4Q Free, the 4Q suite offers the following innovations:

* Individual Behavioral & Attitudinal Analysis – Allows companies to analyze individual customer experiences, including their open-ended feedback, based on the combination of VoC and GA data. This multi-perspective, session-level analysis provides a broader and more accurate view of the customer experience, which often unveils surprising insights and requires a different company response. New Deals Afoot In Quebec For MEGA Brands and Bell

Mega BrandsMontreal’s MEGA Brands has entered into a global licensing agreement to develop construction toys based on the new Cartoon Network boys’ action series, Generator Rex. The global partnership marks the first time the two companies have partnered on product development, and will bring a full line of toys to international markets through a three-year agreement. MEGA Brands’ Generator Rex construction toy line is scheduled to launch in the construction toy aisles in the U.S. in fall 2011, and will roll out in additional territories thereafter.

“There is a tremendous amount of excitement and momentum surrounding Generator Rex and the addition of MEGA Brands to our consumer products offering presents a great opportunity for the brand from a global perspective,” said Christina Miller, senior vice president, CNE. “Construction toys are such a crucial element of how boys play and we’re excited to work closely with MEGA Brands to bring Rex’s generator rexworld and abilities to life for our fans.”
