More than 80 First LEGO League teams brought their robots, inventions and innovations to the First LEGO League (FLL) Championships held in Oshawa and Waterloo. “Senior Solutions”, this year’s challenge, asked teams of nine to fourteen year old builders to develop innovative ways to help senior citizens maintain their independence and quality of life, with over 80 different innovations proposed by teams to the judges at the two separate events held at UOIT in Oshawa on January 12th and at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo on January 13th. Via Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training: The Government of British Columbia will once again help to support B.C. companies at GDC in San Francisco this March 26-29 through the support of various venues and events. This year, there will be a British Columbia booth on the GDC trade show floor that we would like your company to leverage as much as possible. This year, more than 145 scripts were nominated for awards. First-round judging put forward 29 finalist scripts across the Awards’ seven categories, with 37 screenwriters up for awards. Fan Expo Vancouver returns to the Vancouver Convention Centre this April 20-21, 2013. Coming off an amazing inaugural year with nearly 17,000 attendees, Comicon Hollywood North is taking the celebration of pop culture to a new level in 2013. Last year the fan convention sold out on its first day, and to accommodate even more fans, special guests, and programming Fan Expo will now move to the East side of the Convention Centre. Bell Aliant customers, partners, employees, families and friends came together and have set a new Guinness World Records title for the Most people sending a text message simultaneously in support of mental health on Bell Let’s Talk Day. More than 1,072 people turned out at the Halifax Metro Centre, joined by CTV personality Seamus O’Regan. TVO visits Peterborough March 2 and 3 for the second stop on the TVO on the Road: Learning 2030 tour exploring how science and technology are transforming the way people learn and teach. The theme for the Peterborough visit is Teachers: Then, Now and Tomorrow – an examination of how prepared teachers are to integrate new technologies in the classroom.
