Following the recent test launch in Canada that propelled the game to the top three grossing spot in the Racing category, and into the Top 50 overall Free Apps on the App Store, Sky Pirates Racing by Vancouver’s Fathom Interactive is now available globally for the iPad, iPhone, Amazon Kindle Fire and on Facebook, while the Google Play for Android version will be available next week. Sky Pirates Racing is a 3D cross-platform multiplayer game where players compete in real time. Racers must speed through a three-lap, six-player race on their magic-powered Glidewings. Newly out on iTunes is Death Ray Manta, an arena shooter for iOS devices made by UK developer Rob Fearon and Ottawa-based PsychicParrot Games. Earning an 8/10 from Edge Magazine and co-star of the Eurogamer Expo 2012, Death Ray Manta involves blowing stuff up and making pretty colours in the spirit of Minter, Jarvis and Fearon. Based on the acclaimed PC/Mac game of the same name, Death Ray Manta features two sticks and a screen full of laser beams just like any great arcade game should.

The lines between home and work are blurring. With busy lives and packed schedules, Canadian families need a way to manage “one life”. They want to be able to work where, how and when they want – on their terms. According to an Ipsos Reid study released today, 70 per cent of Canadian parents depend on technology to keep their families connected, while 78 per cent believe that technology allows their families to stay better organized. This survey, commissioned by Microsoft Canada, found that Canadians believe their lives have grown more complex over the past three years, and as a result, are utilizing new technology such as smartphones and cloud services to connect with family members on-the-go and stay on top of their hectic schedules.
