Approximately 25 Grade 3 students in Orleans will premiere their six new videos to highlight “Digital Citizenship”, the theme of this year’s Media Literacy Week. The Week is an annual event held jointly by the Media Awareness Network (MNet) and the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF). This year’s theme – “Digital Citizenship” – calls on Canadians to encourage young people to reflect on their online lives, and their rights and responsibilities as they navigate the digital world. In a move that makes it easier for customers to manage documents and website content within the SAP NetWeaver® Portal component, SAP AG has expanded its relationship with enterprise content management developer OpenText. The agreement adds two new applications to SAP NetWeaver Portal, which were developed by SAP together with OpenText: the SAP® Portal Content Management application by OpenText, an enterprise solution for managing document-related content; and the SAP® Portal Site Management application by OpenText, a solution helping a broad number of users easily manage Web content. ConnectED Canada is a brand new conference focused on involving teachers, students and parents in the drive to move Canada’s educational system forward into the future. The inaugural event will be held on May 25th through 27th 2012 at the Calgary Science School.

The organizers want to focus on establishing a dialogue between those most effected by the evolution of our schools and curriculum, and want to find those who are interested in sparking inspirational and productive conversations. If you have a topic that fits within this model, please fill in the submission form so that organizers can consider your proposal. Deadline for proposals is December 8th, with speaker notifications going out on December 22nd, which is also the date when registration is scheduled to open.

Ayogo was named by NextMedia as “hottest digital media company in Canada” for their work creating mobile and social games that improve people’s lives in meaningful, measurable ways while Tandem, which has been in business for nearly 4 years, has established itself as a leader in using new technologies and developing new methodologies for organizational training. Half of Canadian businesses believe that social media has the potential to increase their profitability, according to a new BMO Bank of Montreal survey. However, while social media tools such as podcasts and social networking sites present significant, cost-effective opportunities for businesses to engage customers, only 29 per cent of Canadian small business owners are taking advantage.
