With nearly 40% of HootSuite’s over 3 million daily messages being sent through Facebook, HootSuite has added a string of new features to enhance the control and monitoring powers. A total of six new or enhanced features, available immediately to HootSuite users, have increased the demographic targeting and messaging capabilities of team members on Facebook, expanded the available analytics, and have made it possible to search Facebook from within the dashboard, among other functions. Security technology company McAfee has released findings from the company’s 2012 Holiday Shopping study. The research investigates the online habits, behaviours, interests and lifestyles of global consumers who indicated that they will engage with Internet and mobile devices while shopping this holiday season. In light of these findings, McAfee also exposes the top 12 scams of Christmas that criminals plan to use to rip off Canadians as they shop online and on mobile devices for the holidays. Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome is a new, shot in Vancouver science-fiction drama from NBCUniversal which premiered the first of ten episodes yesterday on Machinima Prime’s YouTube channel. February 2013 is when Syfy, a division of NBCUniversal,will be expected to televise the pilot and also offer it on DVD, Blue-Ray, On Demand, and digital download. Throughout the history of the Battlestar Galactica franchise, LightWave 3D® software has been a constant in the show’s production pipeline for everything from otherworldly atmospheres to earth-shattering visual effects. Blood & Chrome continues the tradition, adding Cylon robots, snake creatures, and more than 20 sets constructed entirely in LightWave 3D. Nova Scotia’s knowledge economy is continuing to grow through a new venture between the province of Nova Scotia, IBM and a group of six Nova Scotia post-secondary institutions. Together with the support of the Nova Scotia government and a consortium of 6 universities and colleges, IBM Canada will create its first-ever centre for application services delivery in Canada. IBM Canada will establish a Halifax-based Global Delivery Centre.
