A new study by CareerBuilder.ca finds 45% of workers said they have felt bullied at work; a third of these workers reported they suffered health-related problems as a result of bullying and 26% decided to quit their jobs to escape the situation. The study also found nearly half of workers don’t confront their bullies and the majority of incidents go unreported. The survey was conducted online by Harris Interactive© from May 14 to June 4, 2012 and included more than 550 workers nationwide. Read the rest of this entry »

The latest global survey of 1400 IT decision makers from Canada, the U.S., UK, Germany, India, Japan and Brazil, found that while Canada had one of the highest cloud adoption rates, it also had one of the largest increases in data security lapse or issue — behind India and Japan. A three-year study of The Gulf Islands Film and Television School (GIFTS), published by the International Journal of Education and the Arts, concludes the Galiano Island facility is a transformative place. The study, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and authored by Professors Kit Grauer and Ching-Chiu Lin from UBC and Juan Carlos Castro from Concordia University, describes GIFTS as a new kind of learning community that brings together elements of cooperation, collaboration, empowerment, social engagement, identity, and media arts.
