Fem­i­nists in Games, funded by a Cana­dian SSHRC Grant is an endeavor cre­ated with the pur­pose of assem­bling an inter­na­tional research asso­ci­a­tion of dig­i­tal media researchers from a full range of salient dis­ci­plines to begin build­ing ‘con­nec­tive tis­sue’ between and among them, so as to bet­ter under­stand the ori­gins and con­se­quences of this gen­dered dig­i­tal divide, and inter­vene in its reproduction. In the group’s second annual workshop, which will be held at the Centre For Digital Media this May 31st and June 1st, attendees will have two full days of panels, presentations and discussions on issues which impact women in technology and development. Digital advertising platform and solutions provider Videology has released its 1^st quarter findings on the video advertising market in Canada based on an analysis of 51 million impressions delivered via its platform from January to March 2013. Among the findings, Videology found that Canada continues to outpace other markets in terms of cross-device video advertising. The share of digital video ad impressions placed on mobile and connected TV in the 1^st quarter amounted to 37%, with the remainder placed online. Comparatively, 26% of impressions were placed on mobile and connected TV the previous quarter—an 11% increase quarter-over-quarter. triOS College has announced the launch of its new weekend video game camps, aimed at getting students excited and informed about what it takes to design and develop a video game.  These two-days camps run out of the triOS College Toronto and Kitchener campuses on select weekends from May 25 to August 24, 2013, with potentially more dates to be added. Video game enthusiasts will be able to choose from two different camps: “Learning to make Games with Gamemaker” for ages 11-14 and “Game Development with Unity 3D” for ages 15-17.  Interested participants can get details and register online.
